Here Comes The Sun: Perennial Picks
The sun is finally out (some days!), so we thought we'd share some of our favorite sun-loving perennials with you:

Helianthus 'Lemon Queen'
Helianthus
Soft, lemon-colored blooms cover this large perennial from August through the season. Attractive to butterflies, it makes a great back-of-the-border plant.

Geranium 'Rozanne'
Geranium
The 2008 Perennial Plant of the Year, this low growing plant is perfect in rock gardens or edging a bed as a groundcover. Violet-blue blooms through the summer are a nice contrast to summers yellow and orange bloomers.

Gaillardia 'Arizona Sun'
Gaillardia
Also known as Blanket Flower, this dramatically bi-colored red and yellow flower blazes in the summer sun. Compact and heat tolerant, it also attracts butterflies.

Clematis 'Sapphire Indigo'
Clematis
This deep-blue clematis is fast-growing, but stays a smaller 3 1/2' tall in size: perfect for small spaces and patios that need a burst of long-lasting color.

New Arrival: Itoh Peonies
Itoh Peonies(Intersectional Hybrids)
By blending the genes of "tree" and herbaceous peonies you get full, bushy plants produced from eyes at soil level(like grandma's peonies).
Inherited from the tree peony are attractive dissected foliage, huge flowers up to 10" in diameter, strong stems that easily support said flowers and a wide range of colors including yellow. A mature Itoh peony will bear 30 to 50 flowers over several weeks in late spring.
These should be a great peony to add to your garden and we are excited to have them!

Divide And Prosper!
One of our favorite magazines is Fine Gardening (Taunton Press publication). We love their garden design ideas, helpful tips, and plant suggestions by region of the country. At one of our recent seminars, we briefly discussed dividing perennials, and this article gives a very simple-to-follow instruction of the process. Questions or comments about the article or dividing something in your garden? Leave a comment below to see what your fellow gardeners have to say!
