Wow! We are thrilled about how many of you have visited our new website and left comments on our various topics! It seems that a lot of us are having challenges gardening in the shade-good to know. Look for more articles and links in the upcoming weeks to help you plan for this dilemma: how to get color and variety in a shady area.

Your comments about our seminar series are very welcome. We DO enjoy doing them, and as John said in his response, it appears some topics are timeless and we'll be sure to keep addressing them.

A note: Each topic in the blog is open for comments for two weeks from the date of it's posting. We think this will allow us to keep up with our replies, and you will still be able to read the comments and replies, well, forever. As topics "age", they move to the archives where you can find articles by date or topic of interest from the past.

Welcome to our blog! This part of our new website design is probably the most exciting. A "blog" allows us to bring you frequent news items about gardening, links to great websites and stories, and (the most fun), a way for you to communicate with us and other gardeners in the community. We hope you will check in often, and leave your comments and questions for everyone to share. Watch for coupons and contests to come in the future!

Every year, Knollwood grows most of the annuals, unique hanging baskets, and mixed planters that you buy. We also grow our own poinsettias: over 8000 of them, as a matter of fact! We thought it would be fun to share occasional peeks at our growing facility in Beavercreek so you can see the progress of your future plants. The poinsettias are just beginning to fill out now, and won't be showing any color until Mid-November. For more poinsettia information, Ecke Ranch is the source of most poinsettia cuttings to growers. Our growing facility is not open to the public, but we welcome your questions about what happens out there throughout the year.

We had to use the "C" word in October, because you need time to plan! Every year, at Knollwood's Annual Christmas Open House, the Greene County Association of Garden Clubs sponsors a holiday-themed flower show. On November 10 and 11 this year, and open to anyone, it is a fun and inspiring display of flower arrangements in various categories.
